Laptop model details: Acer Nitro 5 AN515-58
Processor: I7-12600H
Graphics: RTX 3060
Memory: 16GB
CPU throttling occurs but temperature remains unchanged, fan spins at 7000 rpm.
During throttling, temperatures reach nearly 100 degrees, and the device shuts down automatically.
This occurred during a demanding gaming session. Is this typical?
I have turned off the Optimus feature in BIOS and am using a dedicated GPU. I’m also selecting Balanced Power mode via the control panel.
Thermal paste has been replaced and internal dust cleaned.

Check if your laptop needs any BIOS updates. In retrospect, it seems thermal throttling is occurring. Thermal paste has been replaced and dust cleaned inside. Could you share the brand of thermal paste and pads you used to replace the original ones? Also, did you consider undervolting your discrete GPU?

2 approaches exist: apply throttle stop to lower CPU voltage or disable turbo boost. It depends on how comfortable you feel exploring the unknown.

Acer states that this model is suited for "casual gaming." You might want to think about using one of those laptop cooling bases, pads, or external fans to assist the internal fans.

This wouldn't be useful since the laptop is optimized for maximum performance within safe temperature limits. Exceeding the allowed temp would require extreme cooling, which isn't feasible with a standard setup. You'd need to resort to aggressive cooling methods beyond what's possible. Check the BIOS for available settings. Adjusting the maximum allowed temperature to match the CPU's safe threshold is recommended. Also, consider modifying the fan curve and adding a TDP limit.

My Bios version is 1.06 and it's not up to date, could a Bios Update resolve the issue? I'm using K5 Pro Thermal Paste.

Examine the advanced tab; thermal settings allow you to adjust target temperatures. If set below the shutdown threshold, it will prevent shutdown. Certain bios versions might also include overclocking features that enable cooler operation if available.

You're unsure if the issue stems from needing an update to your bios version or if the system lacks this feature.

The image you shared includes the advanced tab, which is the third one; the first is info, the second is main, and the third is advanced.
