This situation hasn't occurred before but after running a cinebench r20 my core clocks became unstable, clearly indicating throttling. My CPU didn't reach the maximum temperature limit, only around 87°C, which is still elevated, though I wasn't expecting it to throttle at that level. I'm using a 4.7GHz 1.265V processor on an 8700K chipset. I've tested many times without this problem.

I'm monitoring temperatures and voltages with hwinfo and coretemp.

Edit: Ran it again, reached 88°C without throttling. VRM temperatures were at 56°C. Why does it throttle once at a lower temperature but not again at a higher one? I have c-states enabled, but I'm unsure if that affects the behavior.

Consider adding the following details:
CPU, Motherboard, RAM, SSD/HDD, GPU, PSU, Chassis, OS, and the latest BIOS for your motherboard. Also, let me know your current Windows 10 version and whether you use an aftermarket cooler.
