Used a guide to achieve a stable OC of 4.6ghz on an Asus Sabertoothx79. Hackintosh running 10.9.2.
Performed stress tests for 12 hours; maximum temperature reached 68°C across all conditions, including VRM. Equipped with a Noctua d14 and two fans plus three additional large fans.
Functions well under full load, but throttles from 4.6ghz to 1.2ghz when idling. Audio programs often don’t maintain the OC high enough, causing pops and CPU spikes when it drops to 1.2ghz. Audio performs best at a x46 multiplier.
Throttling occurs every 4-5 seconds, then instantly returns to 4.6ghz.
Attempted disabling speedstep and C State (EIST). Looking for a method to consistently maintain 4.6Ghz without throttling. Temperatures appear capable of handling it. Any suggestions?

Functions well under full load, but throttles down to 1.2ghz when idling. Audio programs often don’t maintain sufficient OC, causing pops and CPU spikes when throttling back to 1.2ghz. Audio performs best at a x46 multiplier.

Looking for a method to maintain 4.6Ghz continuously without throttling. Temperatures appear capable of handling it. Any suggestions?
Also, when idle it drops to 1.2; does it drop further during idle? If so, disabling power-saving features in the BIOS may help keep it at the desired settings even in idle states.
