It isn't about hyperthreading. There are still two groups of additional components for every two processing units. It feels more like an 8-core chip but only uses four cores for processing power, with a strong bottleneck in the connections (something you might recognize).

seems reasonable, I probably overestimated things. It appears there are 8 real cores on an FX 8xx series, but only one FPU per two cores limiting overall performance. This places it somewhere in between core count and hyper-threading, acting like a gray zone—technically counts as a full core but underperforms in FPU-heavy jobs, while still delivering good results and avoiding bottlenecks in non-FPU tasks.

I think CPUs with HytPethreading could perform well in situations where DRM or several DRMs are active in the background, taking up valuable threads and processing power that should be used for the game. This is just a guess. Or even background Windows processes running without other apps, which still doesn’t require much CPU but can drain clock cycles from programs you’re trying to run.

FPU work is pretty typical for CPUs, which means overall performance isn't too much affected. Plus, the non-core delay is significant, causing internal data movement issues—similar to what happens with Ryzen.
