Hey everyone, I've been searching online for advice and now it's time to reach out to the community. My Threadripper 3970x is two years old and it's heating up a lot—85°C when idle, spiking to 95°C under load. Cinebench multi-core scores around 31,000, but the CPU should be hitting about 44,000 at roughly 70°C during stress. The motherboard is an ASUS TRX-40 Pro. I recently swapped my build from one case to another to upgrade to a dual 4090 setup for VFX and Octane rendering. This required cleaning and reapplying the compound. The cooler is a Corsair H150i Pro XT with Arctic MX-4 paste, applied properly and everything fits correctly. The radiators aren't blocked, fans are spinning and responding to speed controls, and heat is escaping from the top of the case (Lian Li Dynamic XL). Corsair iCue, Ryzen Master, and Core Temp all show the same temps, so I'm confident it's accurate. I'm a bit puzzled—anyone have tips or suggestions? Thanks ahead!

Hello there! Have you given it a try to move the cooler around? If it’s a brand-new unit, did you take off the plastic covering on the cold plate?

Hi GOTSpectrum, thanks for the speedy reply! Yes, so this cooler is the same cooler from the original build that has been moved case - same age as the CPU. Installed with new compound, and then a day later re-did the compound and reseated to see if I had done it incorrectly but same results.

Please verify if your radiator is heating properly. It may indicate a pump issue or a mounting problem.

Hello. The radiator is heating up. I verified all motherboard connections for the pump and fan speed controls; everything seems to be in order.

Is the pump operating continuously at full capacity? If not, test it and observe any changes.

In similar conditions, the temperature should feel quite high. The rad needs to be arranged properly for optimal performance. Could you share some images of the setup?

I adjusted the fans and pump to 'extreme' using iCue, but nothing changed—coolant stays around 35-40°C, which is typical for circulation. I have an H150i Elite LCD on an Intel build at my office, and in Cinebench the CPU reaches about 80°C while coolant stays near 35°C. The radiator isn’t overly hot to the touch but does dissipate a significant amount of heat. I’ve attached a photo of the setup. Thanks for the updates so far!

Updated with the solution. Purchased a new H150i Pro XT and it functions properly at normal temperatures. The previous unit appeared to work well—heat was dissipating, the pump was running, fans operated, and RGB settings were responsive. I even removed it and checked for any trapped air bubbles. Appreciate the advice.
