I'm looking for places in Canada where I can purchase a couple of Threadripper 3970x. The memory express site only lists them as special order, which is unusual since they mentioned the US release was on the 25th. I need to secure at least two units.

They are no longer available, the need is much greater than what TSMC can make.

They were unavailable when they launched, and I've been keeping track of their sites since the 24th.

AMD confirmed all stock sold at launch was completed within an hour. Canada — If you prefer purchasing from the USA, you might place a pre-order on B&H when additional chips arrive next month: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1...x_3_7.html

Canada Computers still has a unit available. I purchased mine during the initial release, and you can find it here: https://www.canadacomputers.com/product_..._id=158466

I don’t have any suggestions on purchasing, but this seems like a rare case where buying components beforehand makes sense. As long as you stick with Threadripper, you’ll need a powerful PSU, and I strongly advise custom water cooling.

I hope the discussions help TSMC return to America, though it seems Chinese mobile makers are absorbing around 60% of the demand. AMD might gain more influence now that its sales have grown so much, but I’m unsure if we’ll have enough leverage if other firms already control TSMC. Imagine having three times the TR3 and five hundred times the 3950x chips—then fewer low-end tech enthusiasts would claim they’re launching products.
