These threadrippers are mainly used for gaming, though they work best with older systems. The motherboards cost too much for this purpose, and memory support isn’t very good. The cheapest I’ve seen is around $230, but you often see them for $300. For serious gamers, aim for a 3600 and 3700X to handle heavy loads without trouble.

I would choose one of the Ryzens. They're much more appropriate for gaming and significantly cheaper. These are currently the leading gaming CPUs.
