About five days ago I performed the major Windows 10 update. Immediately after setup, I encountered problems such as slowed audio and electrical interference noises. After a few restarts those issues stopped happening. Now when I first turn on my PC, tougher games fail to launch. In BF1 I can only play for a short time before it freezes and says it’s stopped. Occasionally the Explorer crashes too, which is really annoying. My desktop shortcuts are also shifting around. This isn’t a new problem for me—I’ve seen similar issues on other computers, usually just once or twice a month. I’ve already powered off the PC and disconnected the PSU for a while, but it didn’t help. Do you know what might be causing this? Thanks in advance, Tiwaz. P.S.: I can’t do a reinstall because I have finals coming up, so I really need the PC working and downloading games isn’t something I want to do right now. Any advice would be appreciated!

I faced the same issue with gtav. I resolved it by placing d3dx9.dll in the game directory. Just remember, it might not apply to other games.

Using DDU to clean out drivers first could assist with some issues at least

I thought I was the only one there. Honestly, I don’t like Windows much.

Run CCleaner to detect registry issues. Wipe old Windows installers via Disk Cleanup. Remove temporary files. Use DDU to remove GPU drivers and do a fresh install. Verify file integrity on Steam just in case. Visit the manufacturer’s site and install the latest drivers. Some brands now offer updates for Windows 10 Creators Update.

Suddenly it functions correctly again, man! After completing A levels, I’m planning to upgrade to a new SSD and perform a clean install.
