You're in the insider program and you assumed users should get Windows 10 first. The ISO download is ready, and you're asking if installing it now with your Windows 8.1 key is acceptable. Thanks, Paddy.

Many people were uncertain before the release about who would be the first to get it. I’m part of the Insider Program but haven’t received any confirmation that it’s safe to install yet. I secured it the first time I saw the “Get Windows 10” option.

Did you require a fresh Windows 10 serial number or could you rely on your existing 7/8/8.1 key?

It didn't require a key; it functioned independently.

I didn't have inside knowledge, but I noticed three Windows 10 upgrade errors in my update log. It downloaded Windows 10 but failed to install. I saved the Windows 10 version on July 26th.

Initially, I wasn't part of the Windows 10 insider group and completed the upgrade last evening. I verified manually that an update was available. Secondly, I have three distinct machines planned for a future upgrade to Windows 10. When I upgraded my laptop yesterday, there was no prompt or option to access an ISO file. I require two separate ISO copies because my laptop runs Windows 7 Home and my two desktops are set up with 8.1 Pro Student. Additionally, I’m seeking information on obtaining the Windows 10 product key. Some sources suggest it’s embedded in the chip, but I’m unsure if anyone upgrades will ever need to manually enter it or save it separately for a clean install.

I didn't require a key at all. Where is the product key kept? I want to locate it and save it with my other keys for future installations. Also, I never saw an option or prompt to create an ISO file during the upgrade to 10; now that it's already installed, how can I do that?
