1080p video at 30 FPS initially, then down to 720p after the first month. Playing BF3, 4, GTA V mostly online from BF. Dxtory videos last 10-13 minutes, max 15-17 minutes. System specs: Intel Haswell i3 4130 at 3.4GHz, Shappire r9 280 GPU, 8 GB RAM, 465GB HDD, Hitachi HDP725050GLA360 SATA drive. Consider the impact of using 4 GB RAM instead.

Using H.264 directly on the GPU would be beneficial.

Use shadowplay or run the game in DVR mode with AMD cards. Dxtory is outdated. For serious recording, consider an external solution.

I’d love to try shadowplay! But my AMD card isn’t compatible. I’ve only heard negative things about game DVR, so I’m unsure if my GPU supports H.264.

Yes, you can use your R9 280 for that task.

The issue lies in the way the game handles video compression, specifically H.264 encoding on the GPU. This can cause performance problems or playback errors.

It's significantly less effective compared to ShadowPlay, though it functions at least.

I noticed a review upon its launch. It seemed to function well without affecting performance. However, it lacked many of the fully developed features found in shadowplay.

There are no recent updates indicating AMD is working on improvements.
