This version won't work with 3060ti
Hello everyone, I hope your Saturday is going smoothly and without too much stress. I was compiling my thoughts, but it started feeling more like a declaration against the machines. Here are some clear bullet points. Components will be listed at the end. MAIN ISSUES:
- New build won’t show anything from my 3060ti, but it does on my 1050ti.
- Installation problems with Windows popped up, but they seemed to resolve themselves as I wrote this.
- Troubleshooting tried:
• Swapped GPUs to check monitor visibility.
• Reconnected every port and cable on the motherboard.
• Changed PSU; both are 750W, same outcome. One is SFX (the one I prefer), the other ATX (from a prior build).
- Tested different displays, monitors, and cables to see what worked.
EXTRA DETAILS:
- My third build had some leftover parts; I built a compact PC focused on gaming and media.
- With SFX connected, the system powers up, fans spin, then stops after a few seconds—no RGB lights appear. (Note: PCIe ribbon cables lack a metal contact in one corner slot; both PSU cables have missing contacts except the GPU side.)
- With ATX PSU, everything works: system starts, fans run, RGB lights work, but no display appears. (Both sides of the ribbon have contacts.)
- Because of the compact design, an extension cable is available to fit a larger GPU. (It’s still a small form factor.) The 1050ti handles it without trouble.
PC BUILD SPECS:
CPU: Intel i5 12400F
RAM: Kingston Fury 32GB DDR5 (single card)
MOTHERBOARD: ASUS ROG Strix B660-I (mini ITX)
GPU: EVGA XC 3060 ti
PSU: Cooler Master v750 SFX Gold (750W, 80+ Gold) modular cooling
CASE: Cooler Master NR200
OS: Windows 11
Any suggestions on what might be causing this? Everything functions well with the 1050ti, but it doesn’t require its own PSU connection like the 3060ti does. Thank you for reviewing!
You might need to use a PCIE 3.0 if you're using the 3.0 extension cable for the 3060ti, as it's compatible with PCIe 4.0. Occasionally older cables fail to connect properly due to differences between 3.0 and 4.0 GPUs. Some users report issues even after changing the PCIe slot, so be cautious.
Once the 3060ti was positioned right on the board, everything functioned flawlessly. It seems it’s time to adjust the radiator placement so the card sits directly on the board. Your help means a lot! Enjoy your weekend with ice cream and fireworks! Thanks again!
