Yes, I'm aware of that. It does freeze quite a bit in the game, especially when using high-end hardware. I managed to play it in a cyber cafe with an i7 8700 and similar GPU, and everything functioned smoothly.

I looked into the details. The 8700/k offers 12 threads and up to 4.7GHz while the 8400 runs at 4GHz with a maximum of 700MHz and only 6 cores, no extra threads. That’s a significant gap. In practice, the difference narrows when comparing 8700k to 9900k. Both chips can reach 5GHz. The advantage of the 9900K is that its IHS is soldered, preventing temperature dips from mods.

No one mentioned anything about it... we've been debating which option would be better for gaming. The 8700 isn't a reasonable upgrade over the 8400 from 2022, and hyperthreading wasn't the topic we were covering.

I confirmed the 8400 was identical in core and thread count initially. It’s important to note that. Adding an 8700 would be a more cost-effective upgrade compared to purchasing an entire rig for 8700. Everyone has different financial situations, so this should be clear when someone mentions a $200 budget. That amount isn’t much to manage.

As noted in the 9400 review, it wasn't identical to the 8700.

Once more, a 9400 isn't quicker than an 8700. It also has only half the thread count. It doesn't matter how often I read this.

I don’t know the source of your figures, but in terms of IPC, a 9400 performs better than an 8700. As mentioned, we weren’t talking about hyperthreading. If you were, you’d be right. Avoid arguing here about no improvement from 8th to 9th Gen.

Same or similar IPC... still a 14nm chip. Your direct quote here. Because I'm repeating myself... 8400 and 9400 are just 6 cores, and 8700 has 6 cores plus 12 threads.

He mentioned the 9400 matches the core/thread count of the 8400, which is accurate. The user replied that @OfficialTechSpace clarified they were misunderstood after the discussion, thinking it related to the 8700, but it wasn't. Such mix-ups are common. No need to escalate tensions.

I missed that until I carefully reviewed the whole discussion. Still, the 9400 only improves speed by clock frequency from the box. The 8700 remains quicker and supports double the threads. It doesn’t seem like the 9400 is worth considering compared to using the word upgrade with an 8400 in the same chat.
