Hello, I recently installed 5600x with Gigabyte Aorus Elite X570 and started using PBO as suggested by online users. After turning it off, I ran some gaming tests and was surprised by the performance. On benchmarks like Cinebench and 3DMark PBO, my setup performed better than expected. Disabling PBO improved scores—about 11 FPS on AC Valhalla, 4 FPS on TW Three Kingdoms, and 3 FPS on Watch Dogs Legion. The notes mention three runs after adjusting settings, using a 3400mhz motherboard with specific curve options. Anyone else experienced similar results?

Configure it manually and tweak the EDC settings. This significantly affects your results. Just like I achieve top performance with my EDC at 135.

I rely on trial and error mostly. My approach is to begin by defining the motherboard limits. Run a few Cinebench tests to check PPT, TDC, and EDC values, noting which reach 100% and which don’t. Adjust BIOS settings to match those numbers, then gradually reduce EDC by about 5-10A while benchmarking again. Stop when performance drops sharply or unexpectedly improves. Currently, I’m achieving my highest scores at 180A, with noticeable drops both above and below that range. Next, lower PPT until it stabilizes around 100%, then repeat the process for TDC. With most cores undervolting by 30 steps (a few at 27-28), a +175MHz offset (200MHz unstable), and optimized PBO limits, I’m now reaching 23500 in R23 and 9100 in R20 on my 5900X.

Here’s how I set it up. I use PBO with extra EDC, running at 210A on a 105W CPU and 135A with 65W chips. As long as temperatures stay under control, performance improves significantly.

I installed Ryzen Master, adjusted Profile 1 to PBO, fine-tuned it, and saved the settings to the BIOS.

You have the ability, but once you apply a boost offset, Ryzen Master requires a power cycle. Unless you avoid setting any offset, you should first perform a power cycle, because your PBO limits will likely need adjustment later to keep things stable. Essentially, start by setting the boost offset, then fine-tune your PBO limits—after that, you can't modify anything in Ryzen Master without restarting. At that stage, using BIOS is probably the best approach.
