Hi all, I'm trying to push the RAM further and haven't reached any success yet. It seems this module might not support it, but I'll give it another shot. The specs are:
RAM: GSKILL TRIDENT Z NEO / Thaipoon data available
CPU: Ryzen 3700x boosted to 4.4GHz @ 1.285v SOC 1.1v MOBO: Asus ROG STRIX X570-F
The RAM seems to handle the DOCP profile well, even at voltages above 1.35V up to 1.5V. It passes JEDEC and DOCP tests despite occasional memory errors during long runs. I've tweaked some timings, but they don't clear memtest failures. I increased FLCK and Infinity fabric settings, though they still cause issues. Resetting everything to RAM mode didn't help either.
My guess is the auto-set timings might be problematic, or the RAM's calibration for Ryzen isn't ideal due to its state. The OHM values are tricky too. I'm not sure what's really limiting performance, but I'd rather understand before giving up. Thanks for your support!
I fell in that way too, but the XMP profile matches the sticker—so that’s one thing confirmed. If I include those timing details, I’m not even sure jumping the CMOS would help me avoid any issues.
gskill's spd isnt always accurate, and thaiphoon burner or whatever program reads exactly what's there. theyre likely c-die which typically shows up as b-die with gskill's dimms. theres a thread about it on that german overclocking site, hardwareluxx i think? that being said i was able to get my 3200c16 kit (of what shows up as b-die but what is presumably c-die) to 3800c19 at 1.45v but you may not wanna go that high with voltage as we dont know much about c-die and 3800mhz wasnt stable on that mobo with any dimms anyways. setting all ram settings to auto never works afaik as there's too many variables to train. as it is, even with my confirmed b-die kit that was shit binned (3200c16 corsair v4.31) i couldnt get lower timings, only higher frequencies with timings bumped up to match. wouldnt make sense if you could eke much out of em, otherwise they wouldve been binned better lol.
It's true I hoped to slightly increase the frequency and align the timing for better benchmark results. I might stick with 1.35 and adjust the frequency upward while tweaking the losser timing a bit. The C-Die could clarify why it crashes when voltage is increased without other modifications. Ideas are still coming.
Purchase a set of genuine 16GB 3600MHz B-Die for improved performance? It won’t increase speed. Test 3200MHz CL16 or CL14 to compare outcomes.
It’s simpler for the IMC if you have 16GB and just two sticks. Because your memory controller supports 3200MHz, focus your clocks on 32GB or less when using tighter timings.
