he will play a few matches of counter strike and his frame is around 150 fps initially, then it drops to 30 after a couple games and stays there. we adjusted graphics settings, updated drivers, modified windows configurations, tweaked adrenaline software, but nothing fixed the issue. he hasn’t changed anything in the BIOS and hasn’t updated his BIOS either—just got the PC a week ago. here are his specs. any advice? we’ve tried everything except BIOS changes.
After a few games it will settle around 30 and remain there. Thermal throttling likely occurred. Check the FX HWINFO, monitor temperatures during gameplay, and note the GPU and CPU speeds.
It's an unusual setup, but the case is almost worth a quarter of the PC's value. Still, even with limited hardware, it should run at around 150fps in CS2 without major problems. Probably something in the background is affecting performance.
That's a basic build. They poured all their budget into the case, but I didn't notice any airflow. During gaming it wouldn't be surprising if the temperatures rose. Maybe the RAM gets full or the small 4GB VRAM buffer fills up with leftover data from the previous match. If you can, send it back and get something better than a mid-range PC from 2019.
It seems the issue is likely due to thermal throttling caused by the case limiting airflow. The prebuilt model you received from CyberPower shares the same CPU and GPU, but the alternative case offers improved airflow.
