I notice your present setup won't support games from the past decade. Your desired configuration is quite powerful—just think about upgrading from an i3 2120 to an i5 2400. I wouldn't waste time using what's available right now. Plan to invest in a better machine instead.

You're suggesting playing on a potato, which is a really old and worn-out potato. It's not a big deal beyond that. You might be able to tackle games like Half-Life or Half-Life 2—they're classic and still fun. Alternatively, you could enjoy some retro titles that have stood the test of time.
