The location you set for the Steam folder doesn't automatically remove the need for Steam. You can still play the game without it if you have the necessary files, but you must ensure Steam is installed and recognized properly.

It varies by game, focusing on registry needs and DRM presence. I believe most recent titles won't run after relocating. DRM-free titles are more likely to function once the folder is moved.
