M.2 devices can be installed similarly to RAM modules. There are examples from various brands. It’s not something I’ve seen before.

An expansion card allows you to install two M.2 SSDs by securing them together. This avoids the need for the manufacturer (ASUS) to allocate extra M.2 slots on the board. Most motherboards don’t support this feature, it’s exclusive to certain ASUS models.
