Using the CPU, fan, two RAM modules, a 1TB SSD cache, and a breadboard setup, nothing activates. The initial attempt didn’t work in any configuration. I checked the Pinned thread but found no solution. I tried connecting only the 24-pin without the 8-pin, then the board turned on briefly with the fan spinning but the CPU light stayed on—clearly due to lack of power. When resetting via USB BIOS, the stick lit briefly before shutting off repeatedly. Testing different PSUs helped, confirming they function when properly shorted. I also tried various pin combinations: 24-pin + 8-pin, 24-pin only, and even bypassing the cache. All attempts failed. There seems to be a power-related issue. I've replaced three PSUs and verified they work after shorting the black and green wires. Still no luck with the current setup. The CPU fan runs when using Sys Fan1, but the status light stays red. One stick in slot 4 works with a short, another with a short on pin 4, but not others. The motherboard shows signs of stress—CMOS reset didn’t help. I’m considering a full motherboard inspection for faults.
Classic socket setup (power to socket) or CPU issues? Check if the motherboard powers on without the CPU and whether the 4/8 pins are functional.
Have you considered slightly loosening the retaining bracket for the CPU? I’m not sure it’s necessary, but it might be worth a shot. Alternatively, you could try installing the CPU without the heatsink attached and inspect the motherboard closely—look at the rear for any scratches or damage through the traces. For me, there appears to be some issues on the CPU power area.

I switched the MOBO, and now the system starts with the CPU fan running. The CPU LED is lit, which makes me think there might be an issue with the CPU itself. There’s probably a way to verify that problem.
was the replacement board identical to the old one? is the CPU placed correctly, are there any bent pins in the socket? are you testing with only a single RAM stick installed (no other components, just the board, PSU, CPU, cooler, and RAM—no drives or GPU)? make sure the cooler isn’t too tight. would it be better to keep the chip unbolted for a quick check?
