I played a game, then smelled burning plastic from the PC. It stopped working after it shut down. I checked the issue and noticed orange residue coming from a component. Should I replace the power supply? Thanks for the help.

If you're unfamiliar with electronics, avoid handling a PSU. Certain components (like capacitors) may retain dangerous voltages even when disconnected. If the device isn't working, emits an unpleasant odor, or has leaks, it's best to replace it.

It’s unlikely this happened. The PSU might fail completely without damaging other parts. Replace it with a new one and you’ll be sure. This issue is probably not something you can fix yourself, I think. It’s a transformer.
