I've been aiming to set up smart card signing for my personal PC. I've been attempting this through a VM with Hyper-V, but it hasn't worked. The Domain controller is ready, and a CA exists, yet my PC still can't connect to the domain. I've been working on this project intermittently for about four months. I've explored Linux options but haven't found a suitable alternative. Any advice or a different Linux solution would be incredibly helpful. Thanks!

You're asking about using a smart card as a password for an account. Are you looking to enable two-factor authentication or use it as your main login method?

It seems you're aiming for a setup similar to your DOD laptop, where signing in with a card and PIN locks the system when the card is taken out.
