Hey everyone, I'm trying to figure out what went wrong with my new PC setup. It had these specs: Asus rod strix B550-i, Ryzen 5 5600G, 16GB RAM, GTX 1060, and 3GB GPU. It worked fine for a couple of months until today. When I turned it on, started playing music, and it shut off by itself—now it won't turn back on. The PSU seems to work since the LED lights under the audio jacks light up when I connect things, and power comes through when I plug something into the USB. But pressing the power button doesn’t do anything, and the debug LEDs stay off. I’ve tried a bunch of fixes without success: unplugged the PSU, waited 5 minutes, reconnected it, removed the GPU, RAM, cables, motherboard parts, reinstalled the CPU, and even changed the CMOS battery. What might I have missed?
I've attempted to disconnect the pin on the motherboard using a screwdriver, but it didn't work. All the tests I'm doing without the GPU—just checking if the CPU fan spins—help a lot, but sadly it's still not fixing the issue.
Your approach to fixing the issue is excellent. It seems both the power supply unit and the motherboard are brand new.
I understand your situation and it's confusing. Don't let yourself doubt—issues do happen sometimes. By chance, I received a GPU replacement today through warranty service. In 30 years I've never experienced a major failure like this before, not even with a hard drive. It took some time and consideration from all the components I thought about before deciding it was time to replace it. Of course, I'm not trying to be pessimistic; I just hope someone here can offer a helpful solution. Either way, you're protected.
