I'm checking out the option to purchase Black Ops III on PC DVD at a lower cost and with a smaller download size. Would you mind if I ask whether it includes a Steam key for adding it to your library and unlocking achievements? Thanks a lot!

As far as I know, if it has a steam key, then you would have to download the game. The only point is that it'll be cheap, but the download size would be the same.

I understand your perspective. Earlier titles often required downloading the disc and then using Steam for activation during setup.

Hmm... I guess I have no choice. Usually I purchase the disc myself. It's inexpensive and straightforward. Just enter the key provided with the disc, and follow the standard Steam process.

Current titles frequently rely on Steamworks for digital rights management, meaning all copies must be unlocked through Steam, no matter the purchase location. I’m not sure about Black Ops III, but it seems this approach is common among developers like Activision in the past.
