Hello everyone, I’ve finished setting up my brand new gaming PC. The problem lies with the processor—especially in games like Battlefield 1. It caps at around 3.825Ghz across all cores, and I’ve never seen it reach 4Ghz. My motherboard is an ASRock B450Pro4. I haven’t overclocked any parts. Besides that, the CPU throttles to 80°C during Battlefield 1. I’m playing at 1920x1080 at 144Hz in Ultra settings.

Here’s what I have: Cooler Master master watt 80+bronze PSU, ASRock B450Pro4, AMD Ryzen 5 3500 Corsair Vengeance 2x8GB, 3200MHz CL16, Galax 2060, Super 8GB RAM.

It's rarely possible to experience the claimed performance increase in practice, since it's typically a single-core enhancement rather than a multi-core one.

How's the performance looking under full multi-core pressure? You'd likely see a significant boost, especially with BF1/BFV demanding heavy cores and threads. Have you checked Cinebench R20 on a single thread to gauge the top single-core frequency?

Hi, the Cinebench R20 should work fine even without an update. In Battlefield 1, most cores stayed around 3800 or 3825, usually with temperatures near 80°C. Your BIOS isn’t the latest, but a recent update might help. I’m not sure if it’s stable yet, so I’ll wait a bit before deciding. I already installed Ryzen Master to check for issues, and if everything is fine, I’ll leave it as is.

At approximately 3.8GHz you'd see performance similar to a single core reaching about 4.35GHz or slightly lower under full load, but around 3.9GHz with the stated boost. To verify stability, run a demanding single-core task and monitor clock/temp data afterward—expect close to the rated boost. With PBO enabled, performance could increase further, though it depends on temperature and voltage margins.

I tested Cinebench R20 but suspect a setting change when launching Ryzen Master or BIOS. Currently, the PC displays 3.8Ghz across all tests. After resetting Ryzen Master and loading UEFI defaults, the score improved to 4.1. In BIOS I selected the default UEFI and adjusted the RAM to XMP profile 1. The image showing 3.6Ghz appeared after applying those changes. Even at 3.8Ghz, everything remained in Auto mode. I didn’t enable PBO due to warranty concerns. After the reset, Cinebench single-thread score was 450. The processor reached a peak of 3988Mhz in Ryzen Master—could this be an issue with the CPU or is the AS Rock B450 Pro4 responsible? Should I update the BIOS to the latest version? What drivers should my system use?

It seems there might be a temperature-related concern. Your current temperature is elevated, leaving little margin for improvement. Which device are you operating?

I'm using the stock cooler. When I tested Cinebench R20, all core temperatures reached 83°C. I'd already run it on single cores twice before getting a score of 450 or 456. After installing the stock cooler, it moved slightly and seemed misaligned—possibly due to something happening then. When the CPU isn't running games, temperatures drop to around 56-65°C, which makes Chrome and similar apps run slower.
