Your setup offers strong performance potential. The i5 2400 paired with GTX 710 and 4GB RAM provides solid gaming and multitasking capabilities. Upgrading to an i7 10700 or i9 10850K with more RAM would significantly boost productivity and future-proof your system. The RTX 3060 Ti is a great choice for gaming, and adding 32GB RAM will greatly enhance overall speed and stability.
This system requires a powerful cooling solution due to its high performance. The intended purpose will likely involve demanding tasks such as gaming, video editing, or advanced software development.
Levent, think about it in another way. I’m set for 1080p gaming with NVENC streaming, handling multiple tasks. I’ve got a scythe fuma 2 and keep it stocked—no need to overclock.
A cooler setup combined with a reliable VRM and VRM cooling board is ideal. Based on your input, the i7-10700 / 10700K / 10700KF would stand out, especially if you're considering Intel processors. For CPU enthusiasts, AMD currently leads in performance. If you're sticking with Intel, the i7-10700K or KF models are worth considering. Compared to standard i7-10700, the upgraded versions handle higher TDP (125W vs 65W), allowing better base and boost speeds. The i7-10700 features a 2.9 GHz base, up to 4.8 GHz boost, while the K versions offer 3.8 GHz base and up to 5.1 GHz boost. Choose a board with the right ports, storage options, and wireless capabilities. Z590 or B560 boards are recommended for faster DDR4 memory speeds. Running memory at slower rates like DDR4-2666 or DDR4-2933 can significantly slow down your CPU. For optimal performance, opt for a board that supports XMP and has a solid VRM layout to prevent overheating.
@-rascal- @MightyMishka The I7 10700 is more affordable than the Ryzen 7 3700X at $325. The I7 10700k has a comparable price to the Ryzen 7 3700X at $362. If you noticed my earlier post, the i9 10850K is listed at $398 just to provoke reactions.
It fits well with the Scythe Fuma 2, offering solid cooling even for an i9-10850K running stock or lightly overclocked. But I’m unsure about its behavior with Multi-Core Enhancement turned on—most boards include it by default. Regarding motherboards, choosing one that matches the i9-10850K is crucial since it consumes a significant amount of power and requires robust VRMs and cooling solutions.
