Overwatch works on Windows 7. I assembled my current setup under $300. It’s very capable without needing BIOS modifications or stickers. The switch from LGA 775 to 771 was done mainly for better power efficiency. A newer socket with DDR3 RAM would be preferable now that single CPU LGA 77x is becoming outdated. If you need assistance, just let me know and I can guide you toward a more optimized build. Lag issues can be resolved by turning off Superfetch—open Run, type Services.msc, locate Superfetch, right-click, and set Startup type to Disabled. I’ve been running without it for nearly seven years.
And you're right, it functions on W7 too. Others are facing similar problems with Overwatch not detecting my operating system. I had some unused DDR3 RAM available, along with the rest of the setup, so I needed a really affordable CPU and motherboard. I picked the motherboard for 20 dollars off Kijiji and the CPU for 13 dollars on Aliexpress, which was perfect. I only bought the CPU and the motherboard since everything else was already there. The Sapphire HD 7970 works fine despite a fan issue, and I used a generic LGA1150 heatsink that I modified to fit an LGA775 socket. I also installed a CoolerMaster N200 and a 500-watt Antec EarthWatts 80+ PSU, plus a 1TB WD10EZEX HDD. Everything was just what I had lying around. I considered going for a cheaper i5-4460 or H81 board, but I stayed under 50 dollars. I already had the CPU cut and soldered from Aliexpress, so no extra steps needed.
This motherboard and CPU package offers superior performance compared to your existing system for roughly $60. Minor issues such as a damaged USB port can be fixed with a full refund, and the CPU selection exceeds the e5430 specification.
