Hello Community, I recently swapped my old rig (2016): i7-6700K ASRock Z170 Extreme4 32GB G.Skill DDR4-2800 CL14 Dual Kit ZOTAC GeForce GTX 1080 AMP! Extreme 700 Watt Sharkoon PSU with the following (2020): Ryzen 5600X ASRock X570 Phantom Gaming 32GB G.Skill DDR4-4000 CL19 Dual Kit ZOTAC GeForce GTX 1080 AMP! Extreme (same GPU) 850 Watt Gigabyte PSU. My goal was to utilize the optimal frequency range of the Ryzen series with the DDR4-4000, but I tackled it somewhat carelessly and the XMP2.0 profile didn’t boot. Right now the RAM is set at 3200MHz with the active XMP2.0 setting (I manually lowered the speed). How can I enable the full 4000MHz XMP2.0 profile? Is there a specific method or guide available? Currently I’m unsure why the system isn’t starting—frequency might be too high, voltage too low, and so on. It’s a bit disappointing. With my previous setup from 2016, I could play Cyberpunk 2077 at around 65fps on low settings and WQHD. After updating everything and restarting with the same configuration, I only managed ~55fps in the same scenes from a save file. I also tried an AMD tweak using Hex-Editor, but got the same result. There's no guaranty that XMP will work unless it's on the QVL for your motherboard . Almost no 4000 kits are supported, and none by G.Skill. You can try playing around with the timings some, but if possible I'd return the memory and get something with lower latency. At a certain point, the money you're paying for higher frequency is completely negated by the higher cost.
I also heard about it. I thought adjusting manually could work. There are some clips demonstrating DDR4-4000 with a Ryzen 5600X at higher speeds, though I understand it still relies on memory capacity.
I dunno if 4000 MHz is a thing, but AMD mentioned it so I thought it would be good. But anyway. I set it to 3600MHz with 18-18-18-38 and an FCLK to 1800 and its running. Any attemp to push it further result in boot cycle, I also had to reset my CMOS. Thx anyway. This aligns with my view, though I’m not familiar with Ryzen yet. Good news, the setup is functioning! You might achieve 3800Mhz at 18-18-18-38 by slightly increasing the SOC voltage to 1.0-1.2V.
