I've been living in my home for a year, thinking it was just an Ethernet port. After removing it from the wall, I realized it wasn't shaped like that. Could you tell me what port it actually is? It might help if you let me know your location too. Thanks for understanding, and sorry about the poor photos.

It might just be. My home is a four-story building turned into two two-story apartments. At the moment it serves as a bedroom, but I’m not certain about its original purpose.

It resembles a firewire connection. I don’t understand why it goes through the wall. An older phone port would be more appropriate, though I’m not familiar with one that matches that appearance.
