Hey there, here’s what happened. Last week I assembled my new PC and it performed flawlessly for a week. Now it’s almost broken because I keep seeing strange BSODs even when nothing is happening. Below are my system details:
- Motherboard: Gigabyte B760 Gaming X
- CPU: Intel core-i713700KF
- Graphics: Gigabyte RTX4070 Ti Aero
- RAM: Corsair vengeance pro SL 3600CL18
- Storage: Samsung 990pro 1TB
- Monitors: Corsair RM850x and NZXT Kraken z63 (144hz, 120Hz)
Software at the time of failure:
- Chrome
- Steam, Battlefield2042
- NZXT-Cam
- Discord
I’m running Windows 11 version 2021 (now F3). The main problem started around 20 hours playing Battlefield2042. After a restart, things looked normal for a while, but then the BSODs returned roughly three times. Once I tried to fix things, nothing improved. Eventually, the PC entered a blue screen repeatedly, even when in Windows Recovery or during a clean install attempt. After some testing, I managed a fresh Windows 11 install, but still experience BSODs after just a few minutes of use. No crashes were consistent, only random blue screens.
Common error messages:
- kmode exception not handled
- System service exception
- ntfs.sys
- Page fault in nonpaged area
- System thread exception not handled
- irql_not_less_or_equal
- Driver stack overflow buffer
- Windows Update uncorrectable error
I’ve tried several fixes: reinstalling drivers, using Windows Auto Repair, reseating RAM, switching power outlets, updating BIOS, cleaning the installation, changing monitor settings, and more. Some BSODs disappeared after a restart or a clean install, but others persisted.
I’m still working on this and would really appreciate any suggestions you might have. Thanks a lot!
You’ve noticed driver-related BSODs after updating Windows 11, but the device manager shows everything as current. Try these steps:
- Check the Windows Update logs for failed installations or errors.
- Use System Information to verify installed drivers.
- Run a driver verification tool like Driver Verifier.
- Disable and enable drivers one by one to isolate the problematic one.
- Consult the manufacturer’s website for known issues with your specific hardware.
Updated the system information and installed the newest motherboard drivers via the official website. Applied IOBit Driver Booster for optimal performance.
NTFS is a file system driver; if you're facing issues, it might be related to your SSD. Consider using a different one.
Avoid updates while using Windows. System should remain stable.
