After some time on my pc it suddenly stops and slows down extremely (like an unbearably slow motion), I have to restart it. After rebooting it functions properly, but then the issue recurs unpredictably. I installed Windows 11 recently, added new drivers, updated the BIOS, and everything seems fine now.

I ran Valley and Cinebench to check if the problem could be simulated, but both tests completed without any problems.

XMP is enabled.
I don’t know what else to do—games are working just fine. It happened once in HOTS and a few minutes ago while I was chatting on Discord; my sound died and the PC froze completely. It’s still responding, but when I try to open an app or open Task Manager it doesn’t load at all.

Specs: Ryzen 7 5800X
32gb 3600mHz Corsair vengeance rgb pro
Asus rog strix rtx 4070ti oc edition
Asus rog strix b550-f gaming mobo
1tb samsung pro ssd
850w asus rog strix PSU 80+ gold

1) Attempt to launch Task Manager to identify the program or process responsible for the PC's slow performance and crashes.
2) Open System Configuration (msconfig), select clean boot in the Boot section, and observe if the issue persists. This removes any third-party software that might be causing the problem. If it works, gradually reinstall them one by one until you locate the culprit.
3) Turn off XMP and check for any changes in behavior.

I'm unsure if trying to open Task Manager during the freeze is feasible—it appears to appear but doesn't load properly. The window is visible, yet no programs are running inside it. I also ran the Windows memory diagnostic tool, which found no issues. I'm using several software applications at once (Lian Li Fan Software, ICE, ASUS Armory Core Bullshit for syncing RGBS), but I'm not sure if they're causing conflicts since I don't see any crashes and checked the system logs, which didn't mention a crash.

Launch the task manager and maintain it until the problem arises. Follow the recommended clean boot method.

Yes, that's exactly what I meant. For an issue like this, patience will either be your opponent or your ally. Launch the task manager and wait quietly if needed until it starts working or the problem arises. Alternatively, you might want to attempt a clean boot first, as I suggested.

I cleared out some questionable items and will attempt a clean start if needed. This update is current.

Removing the Asus Armoury Core software appeared to resolve the problem, and upgrading Windows 11 to version 23h2 seems to have fixed it. I haven't experienced any freezing since my last update, so it looks like the issue is resolved.
