Today I put together my new PC: AMD Ryzen 5 8500G Gigabyte B650M D3HP with two 16GB Corsair Vengeance 5600 DDR5 (CMK32GX5M2B5600C40W) RAM sticks, a Lexar NM710 1TB M.2 SSD, an Nvidia RTX 3060ti from my previous build, and an Antec VP500P Plus (500W PSU). When I power it on, the CPU fan tries to spin but stops after half a second. This happens every time the system starts. Video link: https://www.mediafire.com/file/jaqad1eff...S.MOV/file What I’ve done so far includes cleaning and reseating the RAM, trying one RAM module at a time, reattaching all power cables, checking the CPU on bend pins, reconnecting the cooler, and confirming the TDP (392w) to make sure my PSU isn’t too weak. Still, the system won’t boot. Anyone have any advice? Thanks in advance!

It seems the processor might be outdated relative to the motherboard, and the BIOS isn’t recognizing it.

I hadn’t considered that chance... What’s the most effective way forward now? Your support means a lot!

Check the motherboard for any lit EZ Debug lights (CPU, RAM, VGA, BOOT). This helps identify the problem. Take out the nVidia GPU and connect to the onboard HDMI. Do you recognize the Gigabyte brand? Can you start up in Setup (BIOS)? Your power supply seems insufficient for this configuration. I recommend replacing it with a 750W or higher unit—such as 850W or 1000W. As mentioned, update the BIOS from their website: https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/B65...rt-dl-bios

If your BIOS requires an upgrade, consider these options: 1) borrow a compatible CPU such as a Ryzen 5 7600, 2) visit a nearby store for in-house flashing with a loaner unit, or 3) reach out to Gigabyte support and request the update through their warranty program. Typically, the board’s documentation lists the BIOS version on the package. Can you locate that information?

Check for any EZ Debug indicators and ensure the system powers on; if not, reset the CMOS using the provided link.

The board was still running the initial BIOS version. It lacked EZ debug indicators and I couldn’t enter BIOS mode. Later, at a nearby shop, they swapped the CPU, updated the BIOS, and the motherboard recognized my 8000 series Ryzen. “Fun” note: the original AMD cooler was also out of commission. Still: issue resolved! Thanks Fasouceome and spunk.funk! Appreciation is well-deserved!
