yeah that's not supposed to happen, could be software, could be hardware, usage dropping means either something else dropped/stopped, for example if GPU is waiting for data it will drop usage, because it's not doing anything for that fraction of a second, when do the stutters usually occur? is it random or when something demanding comes up? also when it comes to your PC? is it all original or have some parts been swapped around before, for example upgrades, but keeping same Windows install? also since when these started to happen? did anything before that change?
I have read that GPU usage dropping is caused by stuttering and not the cause of it. Yes, the stutters is pretty random. That's my totally new PC, each part is new. I can say that stuttering issue is being there is from the first boot. Here's what I tried to do: 1. Install the latest Nvidia and Intel drivers 2. Turn off/on V-sync and G-sync 3. Change XMP profiles in the BIOS 4. Turn on via different HDMI and DP cables 5. Set the FPS limit to 120 instead of 240 that the monitor supports 6. Disable energy-efficient cores and C-cores energy-saving support 7. Disable graphics on the processor (although the cables were always connected to an external video card) 8. Enable/disable Rebar in the BIOS 9. Turn on/off Adaptive sync on the monitor 10. Used Process Lasso to increase game prioritization and overall system efficiency. 11. Turned off virtualization on the processor 12. We monitored the temperatures of the processor and video card (the processor never exceeded 64° and the video card never exceeded 72°, i.e. there was no throttling) 13. Set MSI priorities for the video card through a program called MSI Utility v3. 14. Updated the network driver (because the latency in LatencyMon was too high) 15. Changed the cache for shaders to 10GB 16. Performed a clean driver installation via DDU. 17. Disabled Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling in Windows 11. 18. Reinstalled Windows (11 and 10, currently using 10). 19. Tested the RAM with MemTest86: 0 errors. 20. Updated the BIOS to the latest version. 21. Undervolted GPU (no performance changes but it's became less loud) 22. Changed the power outlet 23. Switched the RAM sticks by place 24. Disabled all possible RGB, LED features and related wires. Result : still have these stutters, my head is about to explode.
It's related to the stutter because the GPU is reducing its usage, so it no longer processes FPS efficiently under heavy load. Have you checked the settings in Nvidia Control Panel, Windows Game Mode, or Hotspot temperature? This might indicate a software problem. You could test gaming with the GPU enabled and set its power target to around 80% or lower to see if stutters improve. Have you verified the cables and connections? Take a break if needed—you've already tried many solutions. How many power cables does your GPU use, and how are they connected to the PSU?
Certainly, I optimized everything for peak performance with no noticeable effects. I recall only the GPU reaching 82, while the CPU never overheated. My certainty is strong—likely between RAM, CPU, and Motherboard. The same applies, possibly more. I should have mentioned that I experience stutters even at low game settings. For RAM, it was slots #2 and #4. The connections were straightforward, all cables properly linked to the required components. One cable was an 8-pin type. The PSU used fixed cables, not modular ones. Another observation is that when I set my RAM to its maximum clock speed (5600), the games stutter even more severely—now it's not micro but regular stuttering. It seems my hypothesis is correct...(RAM/CPU/Motherboard).
Even after the things I've tried? I have a clear Windows. I have nothing that can make my CPU hot or unstable. I think that I'm not related to these who have software issues (unfortunately !!).
Yes, tried that too already. Not matter what GPU limited to. I don't think this is the GPU issue. Actually I can't say that's true for 100%. I just had this feel. Probably I just really tired of it.. I'm just waiting for the stutters rather than actually playing the game...
