The NZXT Z690 motherboard is looking sleek, and I’m eager to assemble my PC around it. Is it a good investment? Are there any concerns about power usage, optimization, or AIO compatibility? I haven’t found any strong reviews for this model, so any insights you can share would be really helpful.
It's essentially a Z690 Steel Legend with plastic components covering it. The main issue isn't functionality but cost—compared to the Z690-A Pro WiFi DDR4, which is about two-thirds cheaper, this board offers fewer ports, more M.2 slots, and a stronger VRM. The NZXT version also has a significant airflow limitation over the VRM heat sink, leading to higher temperatures at 12.7k–12.9kV. If you value the look and are willing to spend around $100, it's worth it. Otherwise, there are many superior options for less money.
The main concerns are their size, lesser recognition versus established names, possible delays in BIOS releases, and uncertainty around warranty support.
The board is constructed and stabilized by ASRock, while NZXT mainly adds their branding and serves as the first contact for an RMA. ASRock handles the BIOS updates, and it seems the backend RMA processes are managed by them.
