asus b450 plus doesn't fit with a ryzen 5 1400. The original owner mentioned issues with a ryzen 7 3700x but says it works with an older ryzen 3 1200. Updated BIOS, but no boot occurs. CMOS reset didn't help. Still functions fine on the 3 1200 model.

Certain boards lack sufficient memory to run all AM4 chips simultaneously. Updating the BIOS to the latest release often causes it to ignore older processors. You might need an older BIOS version to properly handle Ryzen 3 1200 or Ryzen 5 1400. Alternatively, consider purchasing a budget-friendly new chip such as the Ryzen 5 5500. It offers significantly better performance while being very affordable right now.

Did you check the message? The person claims 1200 is supported, but not 1400. If a BIOS removed support for one version, it likely affected the other as well.

It functions smoothly with the Ryzen 3 1200. Performance drops with newer CPUs like Ryzen 7 3700X and Ryzen 5 1400, as long as the GPU and RAM are intact.

Because no diagnosis was given, your data might still be helpful. This forum is for troubleshooting, so any information shared can aid in identifying the problem. It might not be a direct fix, but it could guide you toward a solution. Cheese

No success yet. It seems the LED on the motherboard works with the Ryzen 5 1400 but flashes when using the Ryzen 3 1200.

Confirming your setup: is the motherboard ASUS Prime B450PLUS? It has several LEDs, so let me know which one is active or blinking.

If OP suggested a diagnostic and isn’t seeking support, what’s the reason behind this stance? Or are you assuming your message is being addressed once more?
