Hi everyone, after completing the Linux challenge I'm eager to explore the platform further for a project. At home I own a gaming PC equipped with a Ryzen 1600 and an RTX3060 Ti, plus a media/server HPZ400 running Windows. I also have an older MacBook Pro with Windows installed before switching to macOS. Right now I'm not using it much, so I'm considering trying Linux. I'm wondering why it might not work well here. The current OS is High Sierra, which should reflect its age. I've seen some versions of Mint Cheers on the web.

Create a Mint USB stick, start from there and check what functions run smoothly or fail in the live setup. It should take about five minutes and won’t interfere with your current system. Wi-Fi is probably not supported.

It's a MacBook with its specifications and release year. This is much more useful than just mentioning high Sierra :p. Linux distributions perform best on Intel MacBooks, though results vary depending on the model.

Yeah, sorry about that! I don’t have it right now and can’t recall exactly—it was probably around 2010. I’ll check later when I get home from work. Alright, I’ll give it a shot—no problem with the lack of Wi-Fi. Hope it works!

With a mobile device connected, you might be able to install network drivers

He probably has an Ethernet port by default, but the problem lies with Apple’s preference for WiFi chips that aren’t well supported in Linux.

Yes, I have an Ethernet port available. That should resolve the issue. It would be great if the Wi-Fi also worked, but it's not necessary right now.
