Hey everyone, just sharing my thoughts before making any moves with the budget. I'm a bit unsure if the X370 Gaming Pro Carbon supports 128GB RAM or even 2x32GB. My friend's old board is in mind, and I'm thinking about pushing the RAM limit. The MSI site says it can handle 128GB, but PCPartpicker lists 64GB as the max. As for compatible CPUs, I'm not sure which ones would work with 128GB besides the Pro models or Ryzen 9 chips. Let me know what you think!

The processor doesn't restrict RAM size only through the memory controller; modern 64-bit CPUs are designed with addressing capabilities that could theoretically support over 240 terabytes of RAM. Currently, modules reach up to 32GB, but some boards can test up to 128GB due to ECC features. Using two 32GB sticks works fine on the board, and even four 32GB modules should function without problems at standard speeds. Stability becomes affected by manufacturing variations, power delivery systems, CPU quality, and silicon production randomness.
