I recently purchased the laptop and noticed it doesn't utilize the dgpu (RTX 2060) in games. I'm experiencing around 30-60 frames per second, with a latency of about 70 ms, which is quite high. I've tried all the NVIDIA options meant to enable dgpu usage, but nothing worked. I also ran a Fumark benchmark and got 30-40 fps, and when using the Heaven benchmark with dx11 enabled at maximum settings, I achieved 110-150 fps with minimal render latency of 5-7 ms. No stuttering was observed. The performance varies significantly across different games. My suspicion is that there might be an issue with Optimus since I don't have a mux switch. Anyone else encountering similar problems?

It seems you've already attempted this, but haven't configured the preferred graphics device in the Nvidia control panel. Adjust the settings accordingly.

Verify MSI afterburner installation. Is it a refurbished unit?

It’s being used but still new. I suspect the thermal throttle could be the issue if the thermal paste hasn’t been changed. It performs well in benchmark tests. I’ll attempt a fresh Windows install with drivers, and if that fails, I’ll disassemble it to inspect the thermal paste. I also verified it in MSI Afterburner—it reads correctly. I plan to conduct tests at home since I have an external monitor.

Do not take apart. If reinstalling windows doesn’t help, restart the GPU to ensure it returns to a working state.

It operates at 75°C, which isn't extreme. The GPU usage reaches 100% during Heaven benchmark and delivers strong results, though performance drops in games and other tests. It seems the issue might be software-related, possibly a faulty SSD causing data loss.

Start with a brand new Windows installation. Use a bootable USB from Microsoft to erase the drive right after booting and begin a clean setup without modifying any existing files. Choose the custom install option and remove all partitions if needed.

A new installation is now functioning properly. Following the Windows setup, I started by updating all the latest drivers, then added the Asus Armoury Crate. Everything is working as expected, though render latency remains around 60 ms. I’ll check it further after work.
