I’m focusing on Trident Z Neo memory for my upcoming build, paired with a 5800X CPU. I’ll be doing casual gaming and some video editing. I’ve checked various options and understand that higher prices usually mean better speed and timing. I’m trying to find the ideal balance between cost and performance for my needs. Any advice or insights would be appreciated. Cheers! (Prices shown in AUD)

Your complete specs are straightforward—focus on speed in MHz and CAS latency when buying RAM. These two aspects usually match well, so a higher MHz kit at a lower CL will perform similarly to a slightly lower MHz kit with a higher CL.

Looking forward to securing a 3080ti soon, around the time they release it. Currently in the early stages of planning.

Are you aiming for four DIMMs? If not, I suggest the 2x16GB 3600MHz CL16 package. It offers the best balance, providing top performance and minimal delay while being the most affordable option available. Using just two DIMMs often improves compatibility as well.

I aimed to fill every available slot. Possible compatibility challenges might emerge. I won’t respond right away—I’m heading to work.

The distinction lies in the way we perceive or interpret something.

RAM compatibility can be somewhat tricky, especially when using many high-speed DIMMs. It might not usually cause problems, but it could occasionally arise. To ensure every slot is utilized, consider the 4x8GB 3600MHz CL18 kit. It has a bit more latency, which could affect performance by around 5 frames per second.
