Hello the forum, I recently purchased a Gigabyte Z690 Gaming X DDR5 motherboard along with two 16GB Corsair Vengeance RAM sticks at 5600MHz. My CPU is a 12600K. I have one slot—probably A2, the second from the CPU socket—which consistently works fine. I’ve tried both RAM modules and they function properly. The other three slots are non-functional; the system won’t boot and the status LED switches between 'Boot' and 'DRAM' before shutting down. This morning I managed to boot with two sticks in B1 and B2 (not A2, which seemed stable), but it was very unstable and displayed blue screens several times. I considered giving up. Should I suspect the motherboard or the CPU? Since I can’t find reputable vendors in Ireland, all parts come from Amazon. The CPU appears to be new, but the motherboard has a refurbished unit, possibly with prior issues. I’m unsure if it’s the board or the chipset that’s failing. Regarding the RMA process, I have no experience and am worried about the hassle. My last RMA with Western Digital took three months for a replacement drive, which isn’t something I’d want to repeat. I only have one available unit without delays, coming from outside the UK due to Brexit, so I’m hesitant to order another. Should I proceed with the same setup or handle it through the manufacturer’s return program?

I assembled my PC and found only one RAM slot functional. Once Windows was installed, I fetched all the drivers and updated the BIOS. After completing those steps, I could power off the system and install another RAM stick, which then started up smoothly without any problems.

I already have Windows installed and configured, but I didn’t mention that I updated the BIOS to the latest version (F20a) from last month.

I didn't understand the instructions correctly and mounted the side brackets of my Arctic cooler incorrectly, causing poor contact with the IHS. After fixing it, everything is working properly—my temperature control is great and the RAM slots are functioning too. It must have been a pressure issue during mounting. All set! Thanks.
