you have a solid 7945hx laptop and are planning to boost it for 3d tasks. you're considering upgrading to 64gb ram, aiming for higher performance. latency matters, as does speed. the links you shared point to two options: one with 4800mhz c40 and another with 5600mhz c46. which one suits your needs better depends on balancing those factors.

You can purchase the CL40 model for the identical cost as the CL46 G.SKILL Ripjaws SO-DIMM 64GB (2 x 32GB) 262-Pin DDR5 SO-DIMM DDR5 5600 (PC5 44800) from F5-5600S4040A32GX2 on Newegg.com.

Latency is expressed in clock cycles, which means the 5600 CL46 kit performs better in this metric (around 0.2ns, essentially negligible). If possible, obtain that kit. Many laptops lack XMP support, so using a JEDEC standard is likely the safest choice.

It's a good idea if the cost matches. They also don't need to rely on xmp.

The issue often arises when a kit lists a 5600 XMP rating; it will operate at 4800 JEDEC standards, resulting in a reduced performance level. You won't find any BIOS settings to adjust this discrepancy.

Are you confident? I thought it was meant for maximum speed, but since my CPU supports it, I should check.

I noticed 2Rx8 is the top choice, but I’m not sure what it stands for. Can you give me more details?
