Hey there, I just built a new setup using a 3900x and decided to upgrade my Intel this year. Struggling with memory stability beyond the standard 2133MHz lately. Components: AMD 3900X, Asus Strix X570-E, G.SKILL TridentZ Neo 3600Mhz, C18 (F4-3600C18D-32GTZN). I ran it with XMP (DOCP) for a few weeks but it would freeze and won’t boot now unless I reset everything. Performance dropped a lot in games like Tarkov, so I’ve been digging into solutions. I checked various settings and even tried a SAFE profile at 3200Mhz, but it still fails to start in many cases. When installing, the CPU would stall until I adjusted the cooler. Am I having memory issues? Or is my CPU the problem? I’m not super experienced with overclocking and might have made a mistake by picking C18. I’m unsure if I have bad RAM or a bad CPU. I’ve heard some Trident Z Neo units can fail, especially from certain manufacturers. This troubleshooting can be tricky online, but maybe there’s something simple I missed. Any advice would be huge! Also, consider testing with a lower frequency like 3000MHz to isolate the problem. If the issue persists, it might be hardware-related—consider running diagnostics or replacing components one by one.

I'm trying really hard to assist, but this is super frustrating. The memory CL 18-22-22-22 has terrible timing at 3600mhz across all platforms. The info on the site seems completely unreliable. I need someone to stop spreading this nonsense and help me get a stable, overclocked system. Watch out for people in this forum getting inconsistent results. It's not about the RAM itself—it's the controller that's too strict. Even my best B-Die doesn't automatically follow XMP profiles; it should work fine otherwise.

For the fix: turn on DOCP, set voltage to 1.410v, adjust SOC to 1.100v, turn off Gear Down and Power down modes. Set memory target around 2666mhz up to 3200mhz (starting with what actually runs). Leave Infinity Fabric auto. Once you're stable at 3200mhz or higher, we can aim for tighter speeds. You're welcome.

I managed to test the settings and reached my maximum POST at 2400mhz with D.O.C.P turned on. Right now I’m using the timings you suggested—18-22-22-42—and I noticed it’s running at 2T, while your recommendations were for 1T. I’m open to spending more if it could help push it higher than 2400mhz. FLCK is at 1200, and nothing has worked yet. Thanks for the thorough explanation, Semo!

Hey there Semo. If 2400 truly represents the top you can achieve with that memory, the Hynix isn't the right fit for you. I usually don’t enjoy pushing people to buy new memory when it’s unnecessary spending... Still, we could invest a lot of time manually setting this up. If you prefer, we can go ahead and buy some better memory for a higher chance of faster clocks. Here are a few memory kits you might consider. Based on the timing, a decent B-die seems likely. Hi again! The new RAM arrived, but it didn't post with X.M.P (DOCP). Using the same approach I tried before, I'm still limited to 2400Mhz. 1.4100 at DRAM voltage and 1.100 at SOC. I haven't adjusted any components or powered down yet... It's not looking good. Could my CPU be the issue? I plan to try the DRAM calculator again. Edit: During setup, I would fail to POST until I tightened the CPU cooler. Perhaps that's related? At the time, I also took it out and checked for bent pins—nothing obvious for an untrained eye. After that, I managed to run the XMP profile for a few weeks at around 1.4 DRAM voltage, but it crashed unexpectedly and wouldn't boot. Semo

Gradually boost the memory rate by one click starting at 2400, observe the results. Let’s try 2466MHz next.

I attempted that before moving to 2666MHz, but it doesn’t post properly. Even when gear and power are off, the same issue occurs. When it fails, it attempts twice—seems the RAM lights don’t activate and then restarts into BIOS to reset settings. Appreciate your quick replies!
