It doesn't make sense unless you use a 4K 144Hz display. At 1440p with 144Hz, even a 3080 is limited; you'll hit the frame rate ceiling, and if your screen can't show the performance clearly, it's pointless. Unless you're aiming for AAA games at high frame rates and ultra quality, quad channel isn't a big advantage. Dual channel is better for pure performance. That said, with a high-speed quad channel setup (3200Mhz+ or lower, CL16 or less), the difference is almost nonexistent.
The quad channel setting mainly affects RAM capacity, not overall performance.
