I wanted to ask because I accidentally let the mobo box fall out while opening it, and when I put it back into its anti-static bag, the end slipped into one of the openings. I’m worried about safety since I’m nervous about starting my first project.

It's a minor issue for the board's VRM. It's safe.

Heatsink attached to the CPU power supply. Likely okay if clips/screws remain intact and there’s no visible board damage.
