So I purchased a used Core2Duo setup for almost free, mainly for emulators and similar tasks. It comes with an E4500 processor, 4GB DDR2 RAM, an HD 5750 graphics card, a 500GB hard drive, and a 450W Silverstone power supply—something I installed myself since the included PSU seemed unreliable. The system ran Windows 7 smoothly, which was much better than expected. After switching to Windows 10, the installation crashed right away before the desktop appeared, freezing completely. After rebooting, I restarted again and still faced issues: it keeps freezing at the spinning Windows logo screen. I’ve used a bootable USB, tried various file formats (FAT32, NTFS, MBR), but nothing works. The USB only freezes at the same spot. I attempted to boot from Mint via USB, but it also freezes. I unplugged all drives and used just the USB to test, but it still stalls. I’m stuck trying to figure out what’s wrong—this is frustrating after spending time setting everything up.

Have you explored the options listed? Clear CMOS, remove all expansion cards, graphics cards, etc., and try installing the original operating system that came with the device.

Consider trying to burn Ubuntu onto a DVD or CD from a nearby USB drive. It might work as a backup option. I recall Lubuntu 14.04 can be installed on a CD, which could save some money.
