i was starting alan wake 2 and the system froze with a black screen, then crashed after shutdown. the motherboard indicator stayed stuck on 'cpu'. i turned it off and back on, and it worked again. what might have caused this? i don’t have any oc, and everything functioned normally before. specs: rtx 4090, 7950x3d, 32gb ram, ddr5, 5600mhz, 980 pro ssd, fsp hydro, 1200w 80+ platinum, b650 aorus pro ax, event viewer only shows kernel power error.

another update, i adjusted xmp and pbo a bit before testing in fortnite (lol) then after resetting everything back to normal it worked fine. but when i opened alan wake it just froze and crashed. i fixed it by returning to the original settings.

Is it cooler when idle or when under load?

Pl360 30th anniversary version runs smoothly at 40–45°C under load 80–85°C. The temperatures didn’t spike due to heat, likely from repeated adjustments in BIOS settings and multiple restarts.

Was it merely an isolated incident? It might have been just the windows opening and a black/blue screen triggering a reaction.
