Sure, for the Prime X470-Pro you can use an AMD processor without needing a BIOS update. The best option would be an AMD Ryzen 7 3700X or similar 8-core, 16-thread model. If you're unsure about AMD processors, look for models compatible with the Prime X470-Pro and ensure they meet your system requirements.

It would help to understand the specific BIOS version and the reasons for not updating it. The Ryzen 7 2700X is ideal if you're still using the BIOS from 2018.

Are you looking for a brand-new motherboard? Is it available at a physical store, and can you view the packaging?

Check the BIOS version matched to the CPU model. If you’re certain the revision is listed on the board, that’s sufficient. Still, why not just upgrade the BIOS? It’s remarkably straightforward.

pcparkpiker mentioned the pc park and ryan suggested the ryan 7 2700x works fine without a bios update. They explained their situation: they already have an 8-month-old motherboard, but need a new processor. Updating the bios is not an option because they don’t have the necessary parts, and they’re unsure if AMD can supply a temporary CPU for the update. They also noted that buying a new motherboard is not feasible since it’s already purchased. The main issue is the cost and complexity of handling a BIOS update without proper hardware, which they find frustrating.

The PC repair shop choice seems probably inexpensive. Otherwise, you might purchase an older 2000 series chip, modify the BIOS yourself, and send it back.

no one expects a cheap 80 dollars update for the BIOS, i already asked and you must provide the older CPU since they don’t have it. the top choice is a Ryzen 7 2700X (the best processor doesn’t need a BIOS update) and it’s better than a Ryzen 5 2600.

You can obtain a temporary CPU from AMD via the RMA portal to refresh the BIOS. See the bottom of this page for details: https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/pa-100

If he purchased it eight months ago, look for the box and see if there’s a stick indicating the Ryzen 3000 is ready. This means it came with a BIOS compatible with the 3000 series CPU. If it does, you should be okay upgrading to a 3900x board.
