hye, so as the title says my i9 stays at 4.9 ghz. i already undervolt it by 100 mhz. i searched the web for it why and how to let it fluctuate again. i do this becaus in idle its 70c +- so yeah... could be cooler if it woulndt stay ay 4.9 ghz. any help apriciated.

The system operates more efficiently when idle, maintaining a cool performance without needing adjustments. I keep it running at full speed, 5000 MHz, and don’t require any lowering. Your Dell setup likely employs standard cooling methods; check the Task Manager for details. If temperatures rise during inactivity, it may indicate background processes consuming power. Intel processors are built to handle tasks without slowing down unless necessary. The Details tab shows usage but doesn’t reflect real-time performance—focus on heatsink condition and background activity if CPU load is low.
Given that it is an alienware machine, the air cooling options are not great. I will also second the question about your power plan. I notice when i have Perfomance settings on, i will idle at 30-35C, but any CPU task that is medium to intensive task will take me over 60 really quickly for my 5950X as it is constantly at 5.0GHZ. Turning it to balanced lowered the clock speed and made the cooling performance a bit more normalized
Usage is around 3%, which means limited. I haven't completed stress testing yet.
