I recently installed a new build with a Ryzen 7 5700X and an RTX 3080 10GB, everything was working smoothly until recently. My PSU started producing a buzzing or static sound, originating from the power cord connection, even though I used a different cord. The noise is intermittent, appearing and disappearing randomly. I've tested both idle conditions and under heavy loads, but it remains consistent. Is there any risk of my PSU failing? It's only been about a month.

The PSU in question comes from a series of units with issues. Does it have a manufacturing date marked on it? The coil whine can occur with both PSUs and GPUs, but I’d advise checking another model for this concern. The RM850x is typically my suggestion, and it’s currently the more affordable option for high-end 850W systems.

I verified the serial number of my unit, and it does not match the faulty batch.

And you rely on Gigabyte? It's a problem, you must discard it no matter what.

To date, everything is functioning properly. The random noise disappeared, likely due to the power line issue during the rainy days, and now everything is back to normal.

Don't waste any more time if you don't listen. If you're okay with a poor-quality device, go ahead.

Pururaj greets you and mentions Gigabyte’s good products, but emphasizes the impracticality of running a Gigabyte PSU in your own system. He expresses uncertainty about whether the specific model caused the issue and suggests contacting the retailer for a return, possibly with a refund or shipping label. He advises against using it regardless of the situation.

Eximo replies by confirming the Corsair RM850x as a suitable PSU for high-end GPUs, sharing a personal experience of gifting it to someone with a different setup. He offers support and reassures that future responses will be more helpful.
