This gaming PC struggles significantly with performance.
My PC specifications: 8 GB RAM Kingston 1600MHz DDR3, RX570 ROG STRIX, i7 3770, Cooler Master Mwe 550W PSU, 2TB HDD, ASUS-P8Z77VLX motherboard. I used GT 640 with a faulty 350W PSU before switching the GPU. After replacing the GPU, performance barely improved. I suspected the PSU was the issue, then upgraded it too, but results stayed the same. Now I want to play recent games at low settings—especially BF3 and Hitman—maintaining around 60 FPS with medium difficulty. Unfortunately, even at 40 FPS, BF5 online lags between 20-30 FPS. I checked benchmarks for my current setup and found it capable of running APEX Legends, BF5, and similar titles. Please help! In my country these upgrades aren’t always affordable or easy to obtain. Thank you for your support.
In fact, the options available are limited. You'd likely need an updated CPU and motherboard to make the most of a stronger GPU. For current games, a Ryzen processor or a Core i5 Kaby Lake or better is recommended.
I understand, but I really need a significantly higher FPS even at these low settings in BF3. This is definitely something I want to improve.
I'm curious about whether that 350-watt PSU could affect your setup. I wouldn't power a dedicated GPU from such a supply—it can handle over 300 watts, leaving only a small margin. That means you'd be using nearly all the power, which could overheat components and potentially damage your system. It's a significant risk. You might want to search for similar configurations online to compare performance and see if you're losing any frames.
Alright, consider the performance you're seeing versus others, your power supply is quite limited for a 300-watt GPU plus system. I usually opt for a PSU that's twice the power needed so it doesn't overheat or strain the fans. I haven't tested a weak PSU before, but it's possible your setup is adjusting its power to match the GPU's needs. Fingers crossed someone with this expertise can help. Good luck!
