You're facing a common issue when upgrading games between older and newer systems. The game is requesting an outdated SDK, but your setup has newer hardware that can't install it properly. It seems the latest Nvidia updates might conflict with older games. Trying an AMD GPU could work better, but it depends on the specific game requirements. You might need to check compatibility lists or consider using an older version of the game if possible.

Perform a fresh installation of the NVIDIA driver, remove the PhysX Driver, and set up the Ageia PhysX SDK. Restart your system afterward.

You're asking if an older driver is necessary, since the 900 series was released after the card would have been obsolete.

Reinstall your existing driver, perform a custom setup, then remove the NVIDIA PhysX box and proceed.

That would mean sticking with older physics tools instead of modern solutions.

Absolutely, it's unlikely to succeed in both cases.

get the physx legacy driver, it should resolve the issue. I've encountered this error with older games on some AMD cards too.

I'll give it a shot eventually! It's an indie boxing game called Knockout Boxing.
